Health Advisory Council

The Munich Health Advisory Council is a network that serves as a platform for the exchange, coordination and cooperation among institutions, organisations, and existing networks in health promotion, healthcare, and nursing in the City of Munich. Our commitment is to improve health and quality of life in Munich, with a particular focus on health promotion and prevention. Thereby the Munich Health Council aims to advance health equity across the city.

The Munich Health Council engages with and collaborates alongside other health networks in Bavaria and Germany. It acts as the Gesundheitsregionplus (Health Regionplus) of Munich as a cross-sector network of health care organisations.

The members of the Health Advisory Council are institutions and organisations from public health policy / health administration; healthcare, nursing and health promotion; social insurance; science and research and further stakeholders in Munich’s healthcare system.

The Health Advisory Council is chaired by Beatrix Zurek, Health Officer of the City of Munich. All members of the Health Advisory Council meet at least once a year in the Health Forum to prioritise regional health issues, discuss challenges and initiate actions and projects.

The Council office is situated in the Health Department. The office is a contact point for all stakeholders in the Health Council and coordinates between the steering committee, members, working groups and the organisations involved. It exchanges information with the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety and promotes regional networking with the Health Regionsplus.

The steering committee supports the Health Advisory Council’s work by defining and preparing key topics. The committee consists of the chairperson of the Health Advisory Council, the office managers, and three representatives from health promotion/prevention, healthcare provision, and care/nursing.

The Health Advisory Council operates as the Health Regionplus (Gesundheitsregionplus) for the City of Munich. The management team is in regular contact with the Health Regions plus in Upper Bavaria and attends the Health Regionsplus conferences.
